La La Land is a joyously magical film with a strong undercurrent of cold, hard reality. The soaring highs and the dizzying lows are well portrayed, and the journey from the peak to the valley causes one to re-evaluate the importance of dreams versus practicality versus values and the true and/or perceived meaning of each.
