Review of La La Land (2016) by Jo B — 15 May 2017
Nice story, but hugely overhyped.
I was expecting a hark back to the glory days of musicals (much like "The Artist" did for the silent film) which would reveal to me a whole new genre that I'd previously under-appreciated. Nope! The singing and dancing were stilted and chopped into the narrative. It felt forced.
An interesting story with a refreshing ending, but far too much praise is heaped on this one.
But, you know. Jazz hands.
