Review of La La Land (2016) by Cole S — 19 Aug 2017
It's better than I thought it would be. Bleeds new life into the musical genre by approaching it more modernly yet obtaining a very antique style. The film is set in Los Angeles and is about two dreamers trying to make it big time, one (Emma Stone) trying to become an actress, and the other (Ryan Gosling) wanting to open his own Jazz club.
The camera angles, scenes, and transitions are some of the best I've ever seen in the industry and is what makes this film jump to the top of the charts. The storyline is incredible and has a very unique approach in telling it.
The ending to the film is incredibly emotional and unexpected yet expected simultaneously. "La La Land" should have won best picture. (Well it kind of did for 5 minutes).
