Review of La Haine (1995) by Dave K — 26 Mar 2009
I have one small thing to add, or at least re-emphasize, on top of Zach and Sam's reviews. This is one of the most engrossing movies I've ever seen. At one point during the screening, I had to pee very badly and this unfortunately led me to exit briefly to take care of that problem. Immediately after leaving the theater, I was shocked and confounded by having to experience things through my own eyes again, in my own life. And it's not like the walk to the bathroom was an epic journey. But even on that scale, the snapback to reality was jarring. This movie really does put you there with these beautifully imperfect people as they grow, develop, learn, and live.
Also, I think it's really interesting the three main boys' real names were used in this. That's very very cool.
