Review of La Haine (1995) by Corrie L — 22 Jul 2010
Though I may be biased in reviewing this film due to the fact that I've lived in a Parisian ghetto and seen some of the horrible things that pass there, I loved it. Though in black and white, in French and including a lot of dialogue, everything about this movie gives me chills. Though made in '95, the problems presented in the movie continue to exist today.
From the actors to the plot to the sub-stories behind each character, La Haine proves to be not only one of my favorite French films, but one of my top films in general. Taking a look into a real French ghetto is not only a bold move, it was a genius one. Kassovitz succeeds again and I recommend this movie to anyone who appreciates a great watch.
