This is basically the French answer to Mean Streets or Do The Right Thing. Set in the slums of Paris, La Haine focuses on three young minorities as they struggle with their existence in the banlieue, and with the extreme authoritative measure pursued by the police.

The movie is even more amazing with the black-and-white photography, a testimony to the fact that the characters are anything but black-and-white. This is definitely worth viewing, and worth nagging your friends for them to see it.
