Review of La Dolce Vita (1960) by Samuel R — 14 Mar 2009
This film is often cited as the transition point where Fellini moves from neo-realism to fantasy cinema. After watching the film, it seems more like a transition from beautiful sensitive depiction to mindless and purposeless filming of crazy parties.
I find hard to understand the ruined church and the strip party - in a movie that remained subtle on so many other things, why did those parties need such elaborate illustration?
