It's a pity that this gem of a movie has been overlooked by the americanized remake The Birdcage. In the latter Robin Williams and Nathan Lane give a caricature of two gay men but Ugo Tognazzi and Michel Serrault in La Cage aux Folles give a heartfelt and sensitive interpretation.
