Review of Kurt Cobain: About a Son (2007) by Tiffaney T — 15 Oct 2007
Although I can't deny the presence of Nirvana in my musical history, I went to see this film more for how it was made than for Kurt. As it began I realized I'd never heard Kurt's speaking voice -- I could barely recall between-song mumbling from the unplugged show.
It was nice to hear. He had a nice voice. He was just a guy. Simple interview voice-overs and Northwest imagery of Kurt's geographic locale. Soundtracking.. excellent. Original score half by Ben Gibbard -- but my favorite a Queen song, under a story about Kurt listening to News of the World for so long he killed the battery in his father's truck.
I liked how it was done. I liked it a lot. I firmly disbelieve this is a cheap attempt to "cash in.".
