Review of Kuroneko (1968) by Sam M — 25 Mar 2012
Creepy, both a ghost story and a vampire film and very imaginatively blends the two genres. It is an indictment of how women were and are treated in warfare, and the horrifying toll it takes on everyone.
Quite frightening. ShindÅ? is more interested in slow-building terror and blood-thirsty retribution. it slowly settles in to your subconscious. In spite of the subtitles it was really enjoyable.
