Considering the fact that the movie was over 180mins and yet didn't make audience realize it, proves how well it was made and how involving the scenes were. Although the theme was very predictable from the start (and promos), the chemistry of the real life lovers had kept everyone glued to the screen. Some of the sequences based in the Indian/Pakistani neighborhood in US had a very strong resemblance with Arlington Road (1999) which, but, has a very different story line and ending. Although Saif had proved his alternate acting skills in 'Ek Hasina Thi', he comes through once again as a fine actor compatible with any kind of role, from a chocolate hero chef to a ruthless terrorist. Kareena on the other hand gave her average performance in comparison with her outstanding performance in Omkara.

The movie conducts an interesting debate on Muslims and Terrorism trying to portray the fury behind the minds of people who walk on that path. Vivek Oberoi's character was well placed to balance that equation, which otherwise would have given a very unpleasant feel of the religion. He pulled off the character of Riyaaz very well with some authentic American accent at times. Diya Mirza leaves a much noted impression as Rihana, a reporter who gets killed in a terrorist attack.

All in all Kurbaan stands apart? apart from the very innovative movies like 'New York' by Kabir and 'Fanaa' by Kunal. Kurbaan gives you what you expect and at times much more.
