Review of Kundun (1997) by Emily J — 05 Jun 2007
I really dislike it when people talk about Scorsese and The Departed and talk about it as a "return to form." Scorsese is "on form" like 95% of the time. Like in this excellently bold but quiet and thoughtful pic about Carl Spackler's favorite golfing partner.
Scorsese is at his best when he's doing cinematic anthropology. Examining cultures and experiences we at the theatre have limited to no access to. Gorgeous.
