Review of Kundun (1997) by Brian R — 01 Jan 2010
Kundun is sooooooooooooooo boring about the Dalai Lama and it's not really about him it's sort of broken down into sections rather then about the Lama. It is interesting to see him grow from a spoiled child into a mature man who believes spirituality is the key to solving the worlds problems and breaking the Communist regime of China.
The Mao character who famously replies "Religion is poison" basically torns the Lama character down where the Lama decides to drifts to India(reasons unclear since I was very sleepy). The Philip Glass score is pretty good and the look of the film by Roger Dekins is impressive and direction of Scorsese is unique but Kundun is definetly a picture I do not want to see ever again.
