The idea itself is mean... it is not nice to lie to people to seek trust. But in the end the film is beautiful because Vikram really wanted to help and liberate people. And his 'teachings' are very good, if you delve deeper in the buddhist teachings you will find buddha said the same things: don't follow guru's, embrace reality.
