Review of Kubo and the Two Strings (2016) by Cici C — 12 Feb 2017
A delightful fantasy tale, and a personal journey into the world of otherworldly spirits. Perhaps a little too slow paced, and hard to follow in places, that doesn't stop Kubo and The Two Strings from being utterly entrancing from start to finish.
Studio Laika hit new heights with their captivating visual style, a unique gift of stop motion techniques that border on the computer generated in terms of quality. You'd be forgiven for confusing Kubo with the output of Studio Ghibli, but for me I couldn't think of a higher compliment for an animation than that.
