Review of Kubo and the Two Strings (2016) by Cheyenne W — 18 Sep 2017
Kubo and the Two Strings feels more like an art showcase than an original story. The animation is fantastic, but the dialogue is riddled with cliches and forced moral lessons, which takes away from the sincerity it wants you to think it has.
The twists aren't hard to predict, and the Hanzo character subplot is anticlimactic. I did like the sub-textual relationship between Beetle and Monkey, but it wasn't explored enough.
