Review of Krrish 3 (2013) by Kaustubh H — 09 Nov 2013
It was expected to find Krrish 3 a complete rip off from various Hollywood films. Iron Man, X-men, Superman, Dark Knight Rises, Matrix.. you name it, you've got it. I think the producers and the director have had no qualms in doing it so as it seems the movie is directed towards viewers less than age 12.
Not only action sequences are copied from Hollywood but even dialogues and other scenes are too. For example the Krrish statue is reminiscent of a near identical Batman statue from TDKR. Hell they haven't left Shaktiman's statutory warnings too! Another real low for Krrish 3 are its ancient sounding songs with really boring music.
Rakesh Roshan should rethink about his music director. But having said that, Krrish 3 has raised the bar for special effects in Bollywood. I won't say that they are comparable to those from Hollywood but they are the best seen in Indian cinema until now.
Hrithik does an earnest job playing three characters at the same time. It is a pity to see him as Krrish since he in any other superhero role in Hollywood would give any actor a run for his money. Vivek Oberoi is the archetypal Bollywood villain while Priyanka Chopra has nothing to do except be Hrithik's doll.
Kangana Ranaut does well as the bad girl being transformed. All in all, Krrish 3 is for children who have had no experience of Hollywood and adults too who haven't experienced the same! I would give one star to Hrithik and half each for Kangana Ranaut and Krrish 3's VFX accomplishments.
