Review of Krrish (2006) by Ruhanul I — 21 Feb 2009
I think this is one of the best superheroes movies I have seen by far. It is better than Spiderman 3 and Superman Returns - ten times over. First of all, Hrithik Roshan is soooo believable as a superhero - with his rippling muscles (those biceps!)... and his stunning GREEN eyes! He is also tall and dances better than Michael Jackson at this prime!!! I was immediately bowled over by his acting, his dancing skills and the great stunts in the movie! Lets put it this way - he is way better than Brandon Routh as superman. Hrithik should seriously think of honing his skills in Hollywood. He would give the current breed of actors a huge run for their money. All the friends (non Indians) whom I introduced this movie to were also spellbound by the great acting, stunts and storyline.
So, put your prejudices aside and dont assume that Bollywood movies are beneath you (I know of ppl who hv this prejudice). Anyways, a lot of the dialogue in this movie is in English! 80% of the movie is filmed entirely in Singapore. You will get to watch some breathtaking tourist attractions! By the way, the stunt director in this movie - Tony Ching - was the acclaimed director of "Crouching Tiger" (the Chinese movie that bagged an Oscar in 2000 for Best Foreign Language Film).
Krrish should have won an Oscar... if not for those powers-that-be that decided that they shd use some politically inspired movie that starred Aamir Khan to be India's entry for the Best Foreign film category at the Oscars. That movie didnt even make the preliminary rounds cut at the Oscars.
If Krrish were chosen instead by the Indians to represent India, the outcome would have been very different!!
Anyway, Krrish went on to become a huge blockbuster worldwide and the father and son team (director and lead actor) are now filming Krrish 2, the sequel. Go watch this movie if you haven't already done so.
