Review of Krepkiy Oreshek (1968) by Zachary P — 16 Feb 2013
This is the best action film I have seen to date.
The premise is this: an off-duty cop battles terrorists who've taken over his wife's employer's Christmas party. On its surface, it sounds absurd, but what is exceptional is the joy and believability director John McTiernan and actors Bruce Willis and Alan Rickman bring to the film. The exuberance in everything it does, especially, is something that too many action movies lack. Although my exposure to the genre is somewhat limited, I feel sure that further exposure to it will only prove Die Hard a shining example of everything I love about action.
