Dougherty seems to be making a habit of trying to do too much, looking for that angle that he thinks will make his movies clever and unique. This is another movie that gets bogged down a bit by his tendency to overreach, although it is dark and funny enough to be passable and feels (as intended) like a throwback to campy, low budget, 80s B movies.
