Review of Krampus (2015) by Jonathan B — 18 Jun 2018
A fairly easy-going comedy horror movie in the manner of Gremlins. Young Max just wants a normal family Christmas, like the ones they used to have. However, these hopes are scuppered when his awful family come to stay and the Christmas magic is shattered.
Worse still, during an unnatural winter storm, a central European demon turns up to punish anyone who has not been good. Apart from a rather gruesome Jack-in-the-Box, there really aren't that many scares but there are a few creepy moments.
This story reminded me of one of those childhood Roald Dahl classics where a catalogue of vile people are bumped off in gruesome manners. This is a film that might make for an interesting family viewing for a winter's night but maybe not for the very young!
