A fresh and modern look at the difficult topic of divorce and its aftermath. As it almost always happen, the one, who suffers the most is the innocent kid. Kramer vs. Kramer is very realistic in its portrayal of a father, who suddenly needs to take care of his son, while remaining productive at work.
And as it may happen, the two matters might be in exact contradiction, making the job so much harder. Great performances by Dustin Hoffman and Justin Henry, and a good use of Meryl Streep's acting skills, who is actually absent most of the time.
The onscreen relationship between Mr. Kramer and his son is undeniably heartfelt and emotional. Even though the film eventually takes sides (it has too for the sake of the story), it does it with utmost subtleness.
