Review of Kramer vs. Kramer (1979) by Tor M — 29 Dec 2018
A very big, late 70's film and one of the biggest Oscar winners ever, I guess.
Ted's wife is leaving him. Now, all he got is his very stressful job - and his kid, Billy. He loves his kid and does everything for him. They are quite a team and it's hard not to get impressed by they're relationship. Ted loses his job since he is standing too much up for his kid, but he get's back up on the horse, since he is caring so much for his kid.
I gotta say that there are some amazing performances here. Justin Henry as "Billy" is the youngest Oscar winner ever, and both Streep and Hoffman won a statue each. It may not be the best film that year, but it sure is a very good divorce movie - Woody Allan should be impressed.
The story is OK, the presentation is good, but the pace and development us amazing togheter with the actors. It's also very warm and touching. It may be typical, but it works like a charm. I recently saw Dustin Hoffman in "Straight Time", a much more overseen film than this one. He is truly one amazing actor you can count on.
8 out of 10 French toasts.
