Review of Kramer vs. Kramer (1979) by Marina N — 17 Aug 2013
Interesting movie depicting the consequences of a separation of a couple on their individual life's and their son. Unconventionally, here, it's the mother who leaves her child behind. The father, Dustin Hoffman, who had spent the majority of his time at work when the family was still intact, has to change his lifestyle and make compromises to take responsibility of his son.
Needless to say, it gets complicated when the mother returns and wants custody for the child. The quiet film succeeds brilliantly in capturing the dynamics and evoking deep emotions in the audience. It's a great illustration of a breakup of a family and certainly shows how the child becomes the victim of the fight between the divorced.
