Review of Kong: Skull Island (2017) by Memee M — 18 Jun 2017
I'm not a big fan of the first King Kong movie with jack black. This was a fresh take on the story of Kong. It should be, It's his TRUE origin story. There were no long crazy rituals or rites, no overly zealous indigenous tribes.
No. It was a quiet reverence for the island's protector. I really enjoyed the action scenes and I completely fangirled over Tom Hiddleston wielding a katana. it's a story with a good beginning, middle and end.
Movies should help us escape for a couple hours from the maddening world around us. If it can make me forget my troubles for about 2 hours, and I am not leaving the theatre in tears for some terrible ending, then that's all I can ask for.
