Review of Kong: Skull Island (2017) by Rogueedits . — 16 Jun 2017
This movie did a good job of: beginning to create an excellent path to a great story and character development. Tom Hiddleston comes off as a great leading man type, and I look forward to seeing him more in this type of role.
I liked John Goodman, he brought presence to the role. The small side stories about the other supporting characters was also nice to see. The only downer is, I'd like to see much more of these characters, like a mini series, but.
.. not really possible after what happened to most of them. The script for Sam Jackson's character seemed a bit unhinged, and off the charts for my taste, but it did add tension and drama that was used well in the film.
The creature of "Kong" comes off as genuine, realistic, and true to the original inception of his character. Well done! And, since this is an action movie, there is a bit too much exaggerated action and fake physics for my taste, as well.
But it feels strong as a piece of action film... kind of like how the Jurassic World feels, as a similar genre of movie.
