Review of Kong: Skull Island (2017) by Hazzagalla — 10 Mar 2017
Kong: Skull Island is a huge, disappointing miss. Almost everything in the film feels artificial, lifeless and bland. The characters are disposable and forgettable, the dialogue is at times horrendous, the CGI effects and green screen is definitely noticeable in most scenes, the humour falls flat and the movie is at times unintentionally funny during scenes or peril.
Some of the cinematography and moments with Kong are pretty solid, but for the most part, the movie falls flat on just about every single other aspect. It's hard not to compare this movie to Peter Jackson's King Kong and recognise just how superior that movie is to this one, and that is an awful shame.
