Review of Kong: Skull Island (2017) by Jess_Hill — 23 Mar 2017

Hold onto your butts! This is a joyful creature feature with some of the best monster fights I've seen on film, and cinematography to die for. The storyline is beyond ridiculous, and the script is woeful, but the world building and creature design are phenomenal. The visual effects are stunning, some sequences had the audience applauding, and the fact that it doesn't take itself too seriously makes for a delightfully entertaining, if not cerebral, experience. Cinematic fun writ large, this is a silly monster movie that delivers what it promises on the tin. 7.87/10*.
