Review of Kong: Skull Island (2017) by Alex Q — 28 Mar 2017
The story was bland, the characters were bland but this movie is a guilty pleasure for me because I can never get enough king kong. I really wish the characters were more enticing because barely any of the characters were given any type of substance and it would've been so much better if I actually cared about the characters.
There was a photographer, a tracker, soldiers, scientists, but that is all they were, they were nothing more than the title that they were given and that was mostly due to a bland script that was masked by the action and the cinematography.
I thought the action was done really well and the CGI was good for the most part except anything that had to do with Samuel L. Jackson and fire. I also thought the editing was a little choppy because is something I usually can't notice but it felt kind of sloppy to me.
Even though there was a lot to hate, I still had fun with this movie and I'm not going to knock it for that even though it could have been so much better.
