Review of Kong: Skull Island (2017) by Spencer S — 07 Apr 2017
I was really disappointed with this movie. The editing, the characters, and the writing were not good at all. The best part of the the movie is Kong when he's on screen. Not a single character in this movie is interesting accept for John C.
Reilly and Samuel L. Jackson. Everyone else in the movie is so bland and boring and are just such a waste of talent. Tom Hiddleston is so generic and has really no charisma or charm that I feel like he could have delivered.
I wanted him to be more like a Nathan Drake. Brie Larson is insanely attractive, but besides that her only character is a photographer who takes pictures. There is really nothing else to her. The editing and pacing is also really sloppy and inconsistent.
Overall, I enjoyed King Kong for it's really fun action scenes which are very frequent, but other than that this movie has nothing much else to offer. I never felt much emotion when any character died because they weren't really likable or well developed enough.
But, I think if you don't really care about characters and editing/pacing and just want to see an exiting action movie with King Kong, than you will probably enjoy this movie like I mostly did.
