Tremendous fun. They've wisely abandoned retelling the original story and instead went with something a little different, set in the latter days of the Vietnam War. Action, humor and creepy monsters balance this one well.
The cast is fun and memorable, with John C. Reilly standing out most. We get a lot more of Kong than I was expecting, with plenty of monster on monster fighting. Following on the heels of Godzilla, I look forward to what Legendary Pictures has in store for the rest of their shared universe.
