Review of Kokoda (2006) by Mark S — 29 Jan 2011
One of the best war films set in the Pacific theatre of war that I have seen. The film lays open the realistic harsh conditions of fighting in the Pacific with its no holes bared brutality. The story of the film of a small group of men trying to re-join their unit allows issues such as camaraderie and morality to be explored, which is done to great effect. There is also great suspense throughout the film. The battle scenes although small in number achieve in showing the confusion, brutality and panic extremely well through good acting and good use of the camera.
The entire cast performs excellently and it is through their acting that the sense of fear and confusion of the situation the characters find themselves in is so well displayed.
A brilliantly made war film which is brutal and realistic, the great acting is a contributor to the films brutality.
