Run-of-the-mill is hardly the word to describe this story. Yes, we've seen something similar to this mobster flick, but nothing at all like it. I was looking for another actor that deserved to be idolized.
Barry Pepper is it. The young blood talents of him, Diesel, and even Seth Green (of Robot Chicken fame) coupled with greats John Malkovich, although you must forgive how funny he sounds with a Brooklyn accent, and Dennis Hopper bring to life this story in a way only they could.
Yes, there's nothing terribly original about the filming style, but unlike AHX, its great writing makes that fact incredibly insignificant. I love it.
