Review of Knock Knock (2015) by Carl W — 10 Mar 2016
Knock Knock is directed by Eli Roth, and it stars Keanu Reeves, Lorenza Izzo, and Ana de Armas in a erotic horror thriller film about a married man that has to stay in the house in the weekend while his family are going on vacation because of work, then there were two random girls at the door, he lets them in, they were willing to have a threesome with him, he doesn't at first, but accepts it.
He regrets that mistake, puts them somewhere outside, then the two girls come back, knocks him out, and torture him a bit. When seeing the trailers for it, I'm glad that Eli Roth decide to do make a erotic horror thriller which is something completely different from his usual gorefest films, even though I wasn't completely sold on wanting to watch it.
Since I reviewed every other Eli Roth films, I guess I have to watch this also, and since Brad Jones completely hated this film, I'm curious, but worried at the same time. Eli Roth's Knock Knock is honestly worse than all of his other films, and that is saying a lot from his career.
The acting is surprisingly bad from all the actors, including Keanu Reeves which makes me feel sorry that he was even in this. There are actually some good moments in here, but they are honestly rare in this film.
There are some good acting moments from Keanu Reeves, but the bad acting overcome it. The writing is very bad and it leads to situations that will never happen as there are a lot of moments that the main character can easily get out of.
The girls act so annoying, and not in a good or creepy way, and the movie is not even scary nor suspenseful. There were some lines in it that took me out of it because no one says it that way, and the girls have got to be dumbest villains I've seen in a long time as they got fingerprints all over the place, smash everything in his house, and they cause things that honestly make it worse on themselves than on the main character as no one will believe that he had an affair.
I guess it doesn't matter on that either as the main character is very dumb too as he can take the both of them down, call the police, and FaceTime his family faster. I heard that there was a different ending in the extended version, and that was actually better than the actual film ending because at least there was a payoff in the extended version, the ending that I got doesn't have a payoff, and it made me hate the film even more as Knock Knock is a nonsensical and pointless remake that I hope that Eli Roth makes a better film after that.
