Review of Knightriders (1981) by Chris J — 26 Sep 2008
A true original and little seen gem made by the same team behind George A. Romero's "Dead" series. A metaphor for Romero's own weary mainstream success and fear of studio interference.
A very poignant view of nobility and loyalty. Traits of course attributed to King Arthur and his Knights whom Harris and co. reenact in motorcycle jousting tournaments. It's all about believing in a dream even when no one else does and the importance of staying to your roots and not being corrupted by ego and commerce.
Make up f/x wiz Savini is pretty good as the rival to Harris's popularity. A little overlong but I love this movie anyway.
