Review of Kit Kittredge: An American Girl (2008) by Katie L — 13 Jun 2009
When I was a little girl, I was very into the American Girls books (and even have the Samantha doll... currently being stored in her box in my parents basement). Each girl's story takes place during a very important time during American history and in turn, gave little girls an idea about how it would have been like to live back then and some of the issues going on at the time.
Kit came about years after I stopped reading the books, but I've seen all of the other made-for-TV movies based on the American Girls books, so I figured it only was fair that I gave her story a chance.
Turns out Kit's story is very timely - she and her family are going through the Great Depression... and we're in the Depression 2.0. Great ensemble cast and a very relevant plot made this watchable and one of the better AG movies.
