Review of Kit Kittredge: An American Girl (2008) by Robert C — 31 Aug 2009
It certainly feels like a book. I was impressed with how down to earth they were about the depression, and the parents finding work, and everyone sharing the house. I liked those elements better than the light little 'mystery of the evil hobos' stuff.
The way the hobos are treated is an obvious metaphor, and its too bad the climax with the bumbling villains is so poorly handled and anti-climatic. Otherwise, though, very likable. Breslin's a star to me.
