Review of Kit Kittredge: An American Girl (2008) by Vil R — 06 Jul 2008
It was okay. Badly directed, but the good acting from the great cast shone through in good places. I adore Abigail Breslin and she needs to stop making me cry. But it was sickeningly saccharine at points and the ending was almost alarmingly "happily ever after.
" An imperfect, idealized view of the depression that makes it inadequate as a slice of history, but a cute kids movie and occasionally heart-wrenching. It has Colin Mohchre, a monkey, and a saxophone-playing hobo that looks like Mark Twain.
So lord knows it can't be all bad.
