Review of Kiss the Girls (1997) by April W — 07 Jul 2012
I'll watch this one with my son when he turns 18. This has got to be one of Ashley Judd and Morgan Freeman's best and most exciting roles. The film was suspenseful, intelligent, and creepy and it churned out some pretty good performances in my opinion. Cary Elwes is an underrated actor and has had a pretty good career. There were a few other familiar faces in here, Jeremy Piven, Brian Cox, Bill Nun, and Billy Blanks as Ashley Judds workout trainer!
I'm surprised to see how low RT rated this film. Some of the scenes were "low budget" and "b-movie-esq" like the slow motion shot of morgan freeman falling through the floor, or the fake extras in the hospital ward having the fakest of fake conversations. If you can enjoy the movie as the story unfolds and not focus on the minor flaws here and there, then I feel you got a keeper. 3/5 stars is a good movie, worth watching again maybe once or twice more before Oscar turns 18 in the year 2024.
