Review of Kiss of the Spider Woman (1985) by Robert R — 29 Aug 2008

This is an amazing movie - a dissection of the human heart. Much of the action takes place in a prison cell, in which the conflicts and harmonies between the two main characters, played by William Hurt and Raul Julia, are magnified.

Interestingly, William Hurt (Body Heat, Children of a Lesser God, Accidental Tourist, etc.), plays an effeminate gay man, and does it with incredible depth. It is very satisfying to see a movie portray such a complex and nuanced gay character.
