Review of Kiss of Death (1995) by C R — 08 Feb 2004
A bloody mafioso "out of towners", everything that can go wrong will go wrong for our protagonist, played by an earnest dave caruso. Helen Hunt = overrated. Didn't miss her after she was killed off.
A beefed-up Nicolas Cage was creepy and well-played. Heard his squeak break through the sociopath tough guy dialogue only once. Samuel Jackson was good; his transition from contempt to sympathy was subtle and therefore realistic - this could have easily been overdramatized.
Overall, depressing and not a must-see, but held my attention enough for a cold, rainy evening of movie watching.
