Review of Kiss Me Deadly (1955) by Zack M — 14 Jul 2011
This is a tour de force on the level of Chinatown (which obviously was influenced by this film). It was a complete thrill ride and just bursting with style. I'm not sure if it benefitted from the complete change of pace that it takes in the last 30 minutes.
It definitely was an odd direction to take the story, but I enjoyed it. The first half the film is definitely where it shines and had it stuck to that formula I would've given it a perfect score. It is an absolutely gorgeous black and white movie, and the criterion blu-ray is stunning.
A joy of a film.
