Review of Kingsman: The Golden Circle (2017) by Jacob B — 07 Oct 2017
The critics are wrong about this one. I found Kingsman: The Golden Circle to be just as much fun as The Secret Service. The 2-hour-long runtime can be a pain in the ass and it does lack some of the originality of the first film but I still thought this movie was awesome.
Heavily stylized action sequences are the major highlights here, and I really like stylized action sequences. The performances are all great with Elton John stealing the show as Elton John. The humour came when I expected a humourous situation to pop up, especially with Elton.
Eggsy is a perfectly likable protagonist who even tells his girlfriend in advance about a certain something he has to do that involves infidelity. Julianne Moore is a bland villain compared to Samuel L.
Jackson but she still tries her best. Kingsman 2: probably the one movie released in 2017 in which many people will disagree on what the critics have to say about this movie. Especially since this is the first sequel to a Matthew Vaughn movie where Vaughn directed it.
After all, everyone knows Kick-Ass 2 sucked because Vaughn didn't direct it. And X-Men: First Class wasn't really the first in a series so... A satisfactory spy/comic book movie.
