Review of Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV (2016) by Dillon C — 17 Dec 2016
I have NO idea why this has such a low score! No it is not a great movie, and like any other it has flaws, but it is still good for what it sets out to be. positives are: the cast was amazing, but aaron paul stole the show with his performance where you could tell he was trying the hardest, lena headey was iffy in my opinion where her voice would feel somewhat misplaced, the graphics and design of the world are stunning, everything looks as if there was real care in the crafting of this universe, the only downside to them are some lip syncing inconsistencies, the story unlike what I've continuously read, is not at all convoluted.
I'm sure some people just had trouble remembering everyone's names, but is in no way HARD to understand, if you think this is hard to understand watch 'Enemy'. It is action PACKED for those interested in that sort of thing, in a world of people liking transformers and fast and furious I don't see how they are more acceptable than this one.
One that has characters as the main focus of a movie and not a movie built around giant robots and fast cars. perhaps people dont like paying attention and would rather see mindless action, or they have a biased against video game movies.
I have never been a final fantasy fan, games or movies alike. but being a fish out of water I had no trouble understanding the plot of the movie. as a rating i'd give this movie a B-, though lacking in thorough character development (you at least knew more and felt more towards the protagonist than Sam Witwiki), the world and universe were stellar, fight scenes were good, and story was acceptable.
I would recommend this to any anime fan, I think they love the heck out of this. I dont know how this ties into the final fantasy storyline but I think from the after credits scene it ties in at some point.
the biggest issue I have with the movie is its ending for the most part, some other ones are with the general and the captain thing, the "Giant" fight scenes, and you can tell from a movie like this , the dialogue was written for a foreign audience, but the voice actors did the best they could and I think they did alright.
This movie should definitely NOT be getting all this hate, when movie like suicide squad, batman vs superman, transformers, fast and furious, and all those other cheap horror franchises make billions for so little money and little care for their creations.
(the bigger budget movies still make 4-5x what they spend so thats why im saying their cheap). this is an alright movie and wouldnt do to well for mainstream audiences but would be for ones willing to follow the story.
