Review of Kingdom of Heaven (2005) by Izi M — 24 Apr 2011

This is a superbly directed film. Ridley Scott is master at work. The visuals are beautiful and the battles are incredibly intense. Critics consensus on this film was that it "lacked depth". In my opinion they lacked understanding of the film.

They viewed this film as they would view any other "Epic Battle" movie. They were looking for character driven depth, however this movie is not so much about the characters personally but about the war itself.

This is a no holds barred, graphic look at how bad times became on earth after the death of Jesus. Christendom committed heinous crimes in the name of god and this film gives you an in depth look at that.

Overall, great historical film.
