Review of King of New York (1990) by Greg T — 10 Dec 2007
The flipside of "Goodfellas" and similar excursions into the glitz and glamour of gangster life. Ferrara plays it down and dirty, presenting his New York as a decrepit, festering tenement riddled with cancerous people doing cancerous things.
Walken is electric, the vision is powerful, and the outlook bleak. It wouldn't suprise me if Guiliani had seen this pre-Mayorhood.
