Review of King of New York (1990) by Eliane K — 06 Jul 2008
It took me 3 days to get threw this thing, it's so slowly paced I couldn't stay awake. the problem with this film is that no backstory is ever given, we never learn about how frank white was a "king of new york" before prison, and thus don't understand who he really is or why he wants that title back so badly.
I love walken, coolness just pours off the guy, he's one of my favorite actors of all time, but this isn't a very good performance or film. I think most of the blame should go on the director, who thought he could get by in this film by just showing walken's brooding face over and over.
