Review of King of New York (1990) by Zachariah R — 30 Jan 2009
An extremely fun and action-packed view of the life of an aging gangster, recently released from jail. Christopher Walken, who portrays the vindictive Frank White, along with his best man (played by Laurence Fishburne) aim to corner the market on drugs in New York. A point was raised early on that White wanted to raise enough money to keep an inner-city hospital up and running, which raises interesting moral questions, but it seems to have gotten lost in the plot by the end of the movie.
Great acting performances along with a decent story, and loads of violence, swearing and drugs make this a fun ride to get caught up in!
