Review of King of New York (1990) by Daniel K — 28 May 2009
2: It's a throwaway picture in my opinion. It is so dwarfed by superior works in the genre it isn't really worth watching. It is partially shot and edited in a rather elegant manner, but it isn't enough to raise it out of mediocrity.
This is the type of picture that will and possibly already has been forgotten. It takes elements and themes covered in numerous other films, combines them, and spits them out in a less effective manner.
Walken gives an interesting but unmemorable performance. I enjoyed the lawyers performance more than any other. It is packed with numerous actors that have since become fairly big stars. There is not one scene, theme, concept, or performance that is particularly memorable though.
