Review of King of California (2007) by Natalie B — 12 May 2008
This was a movie that I really enjoyed and yet was miserable the whole time. I loved the contrast of it being so realistic, and very much a fantasy. I know I am being vague, but I just don't want to ruin it for anybody.
I loved Meet the Parents, but the first time I watched it I felt so bad for the Ben Stillers character the whole time it kind of ruined it for me at first. That is how I felt for the teenage girl in this movie.
Another thing I didn't like was the "F bomb". Okay I am mother and I don't want to expose my little guy to too much of that stuff, it wasn't too bad though. What I did LOVE about the movie was contrary to most movies that are either in the big city or in some little historic town this setting was what most of America is really like.
The suburbs- Petco, Costco, Applebee's and all!
